Weird Eggs

Every once in the while, one of the girls decides to show some individuality and creativity and leave us a unique looking egg.  Don't you love it when you're chickens get artistic!  ;)

The first one was rounder than usual and covered with chocolate coloured freckles.

The next offering was almost looked like is was textured in white Spackle like you use on the ceiling or when you texture a wall.

The third artistic egg was done in a patchwork design.  It looked cracked but was sturdy and hard.

The last egg is the hands down (or should I say wings down) winner in individuality.

The shell was not completely finished and a tube-like structure protruded from the end.

The whitish area you see had a rubbery feel to it.

The next day the white tube had been sucked into the egg and all you saw was a rubbery indent in the one end.  Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of it. :(

  1. Joan,
I just came here while following a puzzling trail. Has anyone else commented on your egg photo turning up as the link image for a weird diet advert on Facebook? See The mysterious superfruit.
    Best.

  7. I've seen this pic on random sites, you really made this picture? And what did you do with it or did it hatched eventually?

  8. The picture is being used is the one you posted on this forum:
    http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/264006/weird-looking-egg

It keeps showing up in ads for me that have the headline, "Eat THIS, Never Diet Again!" and "Dr. OZ: "The Holy Grail of Weight Loss" below it.

They really ought to be cutting you a check, though as they're probably a fly-by-night outfit, I wouldn't hold my breath.

    1. I didn't have a rooster so none of my eggs could hatch. They were only for eating.

  10. It is STILL out there! I also followed the trail after seeing it as an ad again and again on Skype. I was grossed out because I didn't recognize it as an egg. Now that I have found the source I can rest. Thank you, Joan.

  13. You should nail the photo stealers for copyright violation. You created the image, so it legally belongs to you under copyright law. You don't have to officially "copyright" your photo to exercise your legal rights under the law. Others should not use it without your permission, especially not for commercial purposes. You have a legal right to control who uses your photo and how it is used, and you are entitled to be paid for the use if you agree to let others use the photo. Don't let them get away with stealing from you.
